Upcoming default leaderboard source change
In the near future, the default leaderboard source will change from legacy to modern. The modern datasource loads faster, has full monthly leaderboard history (going back to the first month each supported game received monthly leaderboards), and has full position data for all players (except for all-time leaderboards, where at least 10 victories are required for positions).
You can manually pre opt-in to the modern leaderboard source with the X-Hive-Leaderboard-Source header set to modern.
To prevent the automatic change immediately applying to your requests, set X-Hive-Leaderboard-Source to legacy. The response always contains this header, including for requests sent without it.
We’ll give advance notice before fully deprecating the legacy data source. Once the data source is removed, modern will always be used, including for requests that request legacy, to not break unmaintained/legacy applications.
In-game leaderboards have started moving to the modern data source already.
Difference in tie-resolution: the legacy source allowed multiple players to share one index, and in lists, would number them according to no preset/predetermined order. The modern source breaks tie by UUID: both on per-player requests, and in lists, the index is the same. For players with unique victories, there is no change in index.
